Ukraine Emergency Appeal
The United Church of Christ is appealing for support for refugees and for elderly and other vulnerable people who are displaced within Ukraine and unable to leave. As a member of the ACT Alliance, UCC support is being targeted to people most in need through humanitarian relief partners with a history of working in the region. Aid also is being extended through Hungarian Reformed Church Aid, the relief agency of the Reformed Church in Hungary. The UCC’s long-term relationship with the Reformed Church in Hungary is held through the Europe and the Middle East Office of Global Ministries.
Gifts made to UCC Ukraine Relief Fund will provide shelter, food, and other care to war refugees and internally displaced people. It also will help refugees and asylum seekers from African, Middle Eastern and other countries who had sought refuge in Ukraine and now are twice displaced, as well as other citizens of more than 125 countries living in Ukraine.
Uniting in prayer, action, and giving, we stand as a people of faith in love and compassion with the people of Ukraine and all who are affected, and with our global partners who are welcoming those driven from their homes.
All donations will be deposited into the International Disasters fund designated for “Ukraine Relief.” Your generous financial support will be used by our partners in the areas of greatest need. Donations can be made online through here, or you can also mail a check made payable to the United Church of Christ PO BOX 71957 Cleveland, OH 44194. Please be sure to note “Ukraine Relief Fund” on your check in the memo section. A Givlia fund has also been setup and checks to CPH with “Ukraine Relief Fund” in the memo will also be accepted in the church office with all funds being appropriately forwarded.

Speedway Clean Team
Our Speedway Clean Team meets once a month to clean up the litter that plagues the roadsides along Speedway Blvd. If you are interested in helping to pick up the litter you are welcome to join them during any of their clean-up days! You do not need to be a church member.
With summer temps rising and mornings quite hot,
The Speedway Clean Team geared up at CPH lower lot.
Jan, Sally, Marlys, and Lynn braved the heat,
We headed out early to clean up the street.
So much trash gets thrown out on the road,
This month seemed to be a much bigger load.
We picked it all up and our trash bags were full of too much debris,
Wishing our roads would stay garbage free.
As part of our effort to keep Tucson green,
We are passing out trash bags for cars to keep the street clean.
July and August we are taking a break from the heat,
September 10th at 7:00 a.m. is the next time we'll meet.

Casa Maria Sandwiches

Once a month volunteers gather in the CPH Brady Library to assemble sandwiches to donate to the Casa Maria Soup Kitchen. Meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of each month and begin at 8am. The sandwiches and other donations of clothing, toiletries, and other items, are then delivered to Casa Maria by our dedicated volunteers. If you would like to help assemble sandwiches please watch this page for the next scheduled date. If you would like to donate sandwich items (bread, lunchmeat, or cheese) those can be dropped off at the CPH office during our regular Mon-Thurs business hours. You are also welcome to drop off other items for donation to Casa Maria during our Mon-Thurs business hours.

Our amazing volunteers lovingly crafted 623 sandwiches on Tuesday, May 10!
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 12 at 8am.

ICS Food Pick-Ups

Every other month a friendly representative from ICS will pick up food donations collected at the church. If you would like to donate food for ICS please feel free to drop off donations during our regular Mon-Thurs business hours.
110 pounds of food were picked up on Wednesday, May 10th! Thank you to all who contributed! There was a lot of cereal which, even though it doesn't weigh a lot, is greatly appreciated and needed by those who rely of the food ICS distributes!
The next pickup is scheduled for Wednesday, July 13th.
